Meet Dr. Enrica J. Ardemagni!


Dr. Enrica J. Ardemagni is the Founder and CEO of the Tontitown Language Center, LLC, an organization dedicated to curated language and culture learning and awareness, while advocating for language preservation and heritage. Born in Arkansas and raised in Tontitown, she is the granddaughter of Italian immigrants who settled in Arkansas.

Dr. Ardemagni graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BA and MA in Spanish and she completed her doctoral degree in Spanish and Historical Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin. She holds the esteemed position of Professor Emerita from Indiana University Indianapolis, where she served as an educator for over twenty-eight years.

During her tenure, she established a Certificate in Translation and Interpreting Studies and authored curriculum for more than fifteen courses in translation, interpreting, and Spanish for specific purposes such as business, legal, and medical contexts.

Dr. Ardemagni has presented and published over sixty scholarly articles and presentations, and she is a published literary translator. Her contributions to education were recognized with sixteen teaching awards during her time at IU-I, as well as a Congressional Recognition for her community engagement in education. In 1998, she was honored with the University of Arkansas Distinguished Alumna award from the Department of Foreign Languages where she was inducted into the Fulbright College Academy.

Dr. Ardemagni is a Certified Court Interpreter, a Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI™-Spanish) and she holds a Certificate in Online Teaching. She has held positions on local and national boards and committees within prestigious professional organizations, including the Midwest Association of Translators and Interpreters (as a founding member, past President, and Lifetime Member), Administrator of the American Translators Association (ATA, Lifetime Member) Literary Division and the ATA Educational Division, the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (as President), and the Stakeholder Assembly group of the SAFE-AI Task Force: Stakeholders Advocating for Fair and Ethical AI in Interpreting.

An enthusiastic traveler, Dr. Ardemagni has visited thirty countries, gathering authentic materials for her courses. She is proficient in English, Spanish, and Italian, and possesses reading proficiency in Portuguese and French.
